UPDATE: Three Indicted In Violent Crime Spree In Lexington
The three are believed to be involved in some of the violent crimes that plagued Lexington during the summer.
Canada and Mulazim were indicted for the robbery on the Quality Inn on Newtown Court on June 15th, the robbery of Barnes Insurance on Winchester Road on July 8th, and the robbery of two people at 540 East Second Street on July 17th.
The grand jury accuses Canada, alone, for a robbery on Terrace View on July 11th.
Lt. Brian Maynard with the Lexington Police Department said, "Mulazim was not with him or we did not have enough evidence to pursue that one."
Lexington police said the victim was shot during the robbery on Terrace View.
Shalonda Smith, believed to be the wife of Mulazim, was indicted for hiding evidence.
Police said all four cases were crimes of opportunity and they don’t believe the suspects knew any of their victims.
Canada and Mulazim are in jail in New Albany, Indiana.
Lexington police said the two committed a robbery in Louisville on July 25th and fled police into New Albany before being caught.
Police in Lexington believe the two could also be responsible for other crimes this summer.
If you witnessed any crimes involving these suspects or were a victim of a crime you have not yet reported, please contact Lexington police.
They hope the fact the pair will be in prison for some time, will alleviate the fears of any witnesses or victims coming forward with information.
