UPDATE: Teens Seen In Area Of Georgetown Train Collision
Investigators are trying to figure out if a group of teenagers had been near a rail car that was left on a main train track in Georgetown.
Police said a train headed south Monday evening collided with the rail car at East Main Street, just east of Maddox Street.
According to investigators, it caused the car to derail and lose its load.
Norfolk Southern Police said that the rail car rolled onto the track at a steel plant from a secondary track that the train must switch into.
NSP said that the car became stationary on the main track and was not rolling at the time of the collision.
According to investigators, another train had passed through the area a few hours earlier and reported seeing teens near the track.
