Update: Suspect In Deadly Robbery Heads To Court

A man charged with murder in connection to Monday night’s shooting at a Lexington apartment complex is headed to court Wednesday.

Police arrested 25-year-old Alexander Burdette early Tuesday morning.

Police say he and two teens forced their way into an apartment in the Creekside South Apartment Complex on Devonport Drive.

We’re told they intended to rob the people inside, but a gunfight broke out between the suspects and one of the victims.

According to a coroner’s report, the victim was a 26-year-old man and he had multiple gunshot wounds.

Two of the suspects, Burdette and one of the teens, were also shot. That teen is still in the hospital with what we are told are very serious injuries.

Burdette was treated and released for minor injuries.

He and the third suspect, a 16 year old, are currently at the Fayette County Detention Center charged with murder and robbery.

Police have also arrested 20-year-old Rodneisha Murphy and charged her with robbery.

According to court documents, Murphy confessed to planning and directing the crime.

Court documents say that neither Burdette nor Murphy knew the victim. However, they do show that Murphy lived just one building away in the same apartment complex.

Burdette is set to be arraigned in Fayette County District Court on Wednesday.
