UPDATE: People still getting sick in Estill County; source undetermined

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Estill County Health Department says it’s getting more reports of illness as it investigates a salmonella outbreak.

Officials say so far, there have been reports of 64 people experiencing gastrointestinal illnesses. The health department says there are now 32 confirmed cases of salmonella, and eight hospitalizations.

Officials say a Food Safety Branch inspector and a health department inspector visited a closed restaurant Tuesday. The health department says no major infractions were found, and the restaurant received a score of 99. It says inspectors sent two food samples to the state lab for testing.

The health department says it continues to investigate all reported illnesses. Anyone who believes they’ve had symptoms salmonellosis should contact their healthcare provider.
