UPDATE: Stabbing suspect arraigned

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – The man accused in a fatal stabbing that took the life of a young boy was arraigned in Woodford County District Court Monday.

Ronald Exantus, 32 and a registered nurse from Indiana, is accused of entering a home on Douglas Avenue in Versailles.  While in the home, police say he took a knife from the kitchen, went upstairs and stabbed 6-year-old Logan Tipton several times in the head while he was sleeping.

Prosecutors at the arraignment say they believe Exantus was traveling through the area and stopped in Versailles but it is unclear why he went into the home.  They also say two other children in the home were cut in the incident and Exantus struggled with the father so more charges are likely.

A public defender was appointed to Exantus, who entered a not guilty plea on her client’s behalf.  The public defender commented that she wasn’t sure of Exantus’ competency, and suggested he may suffer from schizophrenia.

The judge says Exantus is a flight risk and potential threat to the community . The judge set his bond at one million dollars. He is due back in court on December 14 at 1:30 p.m.
