UPDATE: PSC says Columbia Gas not at fault in hotel explosion
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Kentucky Public Service Commission says Columbia Gas did not do anything wrong before an explosion last year at a Fairfield Inn in Lexington.
Investigators say a car hit the hotel’s gas meter, causing gas to leak into the building before it exploded. People were able to get out. But part of the building collapsed in the explosion.
The PSC now says Columbia Gas obeyed all laws regarding pipeline safety. It says the gas meter was 14 feet away from the pavement, with a six-inch curb in between, as required by law.
