Update: accused killer arrested in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man wanted in connection to a deadly shooting in Lexington pleaded not guilty in court Thursday afternoon, according to officials.

Investigators say 41-year old David Trent was arrested on Costigan Drive Wednesday afternoon, but not before he reportedly hit a police car as he tried to escape on a motorcycle.  No one was hurt, according to police.

Trent is accused of killing 25-year-old Adan Perez Mejia, according to investigators.

Mejia was said to be shot in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Mejia’s body was found in a vehicle off Wikcland Drive August 17, 2017, according to officials.

According to police, Mejia and Trent were acquaintances and had been involved in some type of dispute.

Trent’s next court date is on August 29th.
