Update: Pilot And Passenger In Fair Condition After Plane Crash
After seeing the burned out wreckage of a 1974 Piper Warrior airplane, it’s amazing that pilot Gary D. McGlothin, 54, of Lexington and his passenger, Charles A. Jackson, 55, of Winchester, are listed in fair condition, according to a spokesperson at UK Hospital.
Investigators said McGlothin crashed after trying a soft takeoff from Boss Airfield in Pulaski County Monday afternoon.
Investigators said the plane didn’t achieve enough altitude for takeoff and pilot McGlothin crashed landed in a field adjacent to the airport in the Bronston community.
Investigators said both men walked away from the wreckage before it burst into flames.
Both men were airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash.
