UPDATE: One arrested, police still looking for others after weekend shootings in Lexington
Investigators say three others were also shot but survived.
Officers say they’ve arrested Jermaine Anderson in connection with one of the shootings that killed Montez Graves, 31.
Anderson is charged with running from police, tampering with evidence and trafficking cocaine. He’s not charged with murder. Police say more charges are possible.
Investigators say the shooting happened just before 6:00 Sunday evening on Whitney Avenue. Officers say another person was also shot and has life threatening injuries.
Police are looking for a dark-colored Kia SUV with Virginia license plates.
They believe more people could be involved in the shooting.
A couple hours later, police say there was another shooting a few blocks away on Charles Avenue. They say the victim was Ronnie Graves, 64. He died at UK Hospital.
Police say the two are related but say it is too soon to know if the shootings are connected or what caused them.
Police are asking the community for help.
“I know in many cases people may feel apprehensive or feel that they don’t have a piece of information that they would consider to be large or particularly valuable but for us, any small piece of information can make a big difference,” said Sherelle Roberts with Lexington Police.
Officers spent the day going around the neighborhood asking people if they have any information.
