UPDATE: Name of victim in fatal Rockcastle Co. accident released

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman was killed and a man seriously injured in a crash in Rockcastle County on Thursday morning.

According to Kentucky State Police, a Cadillac Deville, driven by 67-year-old James Webber, of Etowah, TN, was slowing or stopped in the northbound lane of Interstate-75 near the 68 mile marker when a Freightliner van, driven by 50-year-old Mohammad Matar, of Kent, OH, hit it from behind.

The passenger in the Cadillac Deville, 67-year-old Susan C. Webber, of Etowah TN, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office.

Webber was taken to the Saint Joseph Berea Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Matar was uninjured.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected, according to police.

Kentucky State Police continues to investigate the crash.
