UPDATE: Man shot to death by Troopers after stealing SUV identified

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WTVQ)- KSP Investigators have identified the man involved in Monday’s police shooting.

24 year-old Rueben T. Ruffin Jr, of Frankfort, Ky was identified by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville.

KSP says Trooper Blake Owens was the trooper who responded to the initial call and confronted Ruffin.

Trooper Owens has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol when officers are involved police related shootings.

The ME’s Office reports that Ruffin died from two gunshot wounds during the confrontation with Trooper Owens.

KSP reports that the pistol used by Ruffin was stolen.

The stolen Jeep has been taken to a secure location for processing.
