UPDATE: Man questioned in violent home invasion

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say they questioned a man in connection to a violent home invasion that left an elderly woman injured, and arrested him on unrelated charges. Investigators say 35-year old David Joel Williams was charged with Burglary 2nd, Forgery 2nd and Probation Violation in a separate case.

Police say they’re still investigating the overnight break-in at a home on Dogwood Drive. Investigators say a man broke-in through a back door, assaulted and robbed the elderly woman who lives there.

The woman’s granddaughter told ABC 36 News that around 4:00 a.m., the man broke-in, got on top of her grandmother and started choking and yelling at her, demanding money. She says the assailant hit her grandmother over the head, knocking her unconscious and then stabbed her more than ten times.

The 80-year old victim ended up at UK Hospital.

Police say the robber did get away with a small amount of cash.
