UPDATE: Madison Co. financial officer fired

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A financial officer accused of spending thousands of dollars of government money on herself in Madison Co. has been let go.

The fiscal court unanimously voted Tuesday to fire Tamara Phelps, according to the county Judge-Executive’s office.  Phelps worked in the chemical stockpile emergency preparedness program.

State police say she forged the director’s signature on 60-purchase orders totalling 33-thousand dollars on everything from electronics for her home to car repairs.
