UPDATE: Louisville International Airport reopen

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ/WHAS) – Passengers are being allowed to board and the security checkpoint has reopened after a suspicious “item” was found in a carry-on bag on Tuesday morning at the Louisville International Airport.

The FBI says that the “suspicious device” found by TSA, which prompted a two-hour shutdown of Louisville International Airport’s security checkpoint, has been deemed “safe” at this time.

The statement goes on to say that there were no indications of unlawful activity. Due to that determination, they will defer to local law enforcement on any further matters in this situation.

Authorities have not disclosed any further information about the device, nor have they mentioned any people of interest in the case.

The checkpoint was closed for more than two hours as officials reviewed the item.

Passengers were being confined to the check-in area while the item was reviewed. Several flights have been delayed as officials investigated the package.
