UPDATE: Lexington police arrest man after barricade situation; firearms, drugs seized

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington man faces multiple charges after a domestic dispute led to a barricade situation Thursday night.

Police responded just after 9:00 p.m. to a residence in the 2000 block of Cornerstone Drive for a domestic disturbance. Officers say when they arrived, the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Alvin McLaurin, retreated into the home and refused to communicate.

Lexington Police’s Emergency Response and Crisis Negotiation Units were called in, and after extended negotiations, McLaurin voluntarily surrendered. One person was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

McLaurin is charged with 13 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of receiving stolen property (firearm), fourth-degree assault (minor injury), intimidating a participant in the legal process, using restricted ammunition during a felony, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing.
