UPDATE: KY Falls Behind Florida In Big Blue Slam

Kentucky Blood Center asked Solid Blue fans to roll up their sleeves for the Big Blue Slam.

It said Kentucky had fallen behind in the second day of the friendly competition with Florida.

As of Tuesday night, the score was 531 to 509.

“While we’ve fallen behind a bit, we know we can catch the Gators tomorrow because UK fans are No. 1, just like the team,” said Martha Osborne, Kentucky Blood Center’s Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment. “Saving lives is important. Beating Florida is a bonus.”

Kentucky and Florida have taken part in the annual blood battle since 2009.

Donors in Central Kentucky receive a limited-edition Slam T-shirt.

They will also have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the second and third rounds of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Louisville.

KBC said it hoped to see big crowds Wednesday during a Rupp Arena Blood Drive in Lexington.

Donors were invited to stop by between noon and 7:00 p.m.

Organizers said Kentucky fans would be able to make a shot or two on the court.

They’ll also be entered to win a tour of the UK locker room.
