UPDATE: KSP Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Kenton County

UPDATE 4/30/18 3:30 p.m. -The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Sergeant Chad Girdler and Patrolman Greg Pohlman.

Dexter Helton’s condition is currently listed as stable and he remains at UC Medical Center.

The investigation is continuing and is being led be Detective Joseph Filiatreau.

UPDATE 4/26/18 7:00 a.m.- State Police have identified the shooting victim as Dexter Helton, 40 years old of Florence, KY.

They say Helton was being sought in connection to an active felony drug warrant out of Kenton County.

Police say as Helton ran from officers he drew a firearm and pointed it at them.

According to police, that forced them to shoot Helton.

At this time, Helton remains at UC Medical Center and there are no additional updates on his condition.

UPDATE 4/26/18 12:50 a.m.- State Police say Erlanger Police officers were dispatched to Peecox Bar and Grill, searching for a suspect with a felony warrant out for their arrest.

Police say someone ran out the back door of the bar when they arrived.

They say they were then placed in a situation that forced them to fire their weapons, which caused serious injuries to one person, who is now in critical condition at UC Medical Center.

Police have not said if the person who ran and the person in critical condition are the same person.

ERLANGER, Ky. (WTVQ) – There was an officer-involved shooting outside a bar and grill in Erlanger Wednesday night, according to State Police.

Investigators say officers from the Erlanger Police Department were involved in the shooting outside the Peecox Bar and Grill on Donaldson Highway.

No other information was immediately available.  Look for updates.
