State Police troopers, Scott County Sheriff’s deputies and Georgetown Police officers were trying to find a McKee with an active arrest warrant, state police tell ABC 36 News. They say he is believed to be a suspect in a burglary.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office received reports that McKee was camping on the banks of North Elkhorn Creek, near the intersection of Lemons Mill Road and Newtown Pike, state police say.
According to state police, when officers found him along the creek, he was holding a hand gun. Troopers and officers ordered McKee to drop the weapon, he refused and raised the gun towards the officers and police fired at the suspect, wounding him.
