UPDATE: Gas Station Clerk Accused of Staging Robbery

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a gas station clerk helped stage an armed robbery where she was the “victim.”

Deputies say 30-year-old Charlene Jackson-Masters of London planned the November 30 holdup with 19-year-old Daniel Cornelius of Williamsburg. Investigators say it happened at the Marathon gas station on Adams Road, where Masters works.

Detectives say Masters originally told deputies a man with a pistol came into the store and demanded money, then locked her in a freezer and ran off with the cash. Now, detectives say Masters is charged with robbery- first degree.

The sheriff’s office says it’s looking for Cornelius. It says he is evading arrest and should be considered armed and dangerous.  Anyone with information on Cornelius is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 606-864-6600 or 606-878-7000. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
