UPDATE: Former U.K. professor pleads guilty to defrauding university

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A former U.K. professor now admits he defrauded the school out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Dingpong "Daniel" Tao was a professor of mining engineering.

He admits he received grant money, that was supposed to go to research, and used it for his own consulting business.

He also says he defrauded Georgia-Pacific while doing consulting work for the company.

Tao could get 20 years in prison for the crimes.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced in June.
