UPDATE: Former Lexington Firefighter Pleads Not Guilty In Hit & Run

A former Lexington firefighter pleaded not guilty Friday in court.

Prosecutors accused Jarad McCargo of driving drunk and backing into The Beer Trappe on Euclid Avenue, pinning Noel Espino and critically injuring him.

The judge increased McCargo’s bond by $4500 after two additional misdemeanors were added to his charges.

Police said McCargo had been under the influence last September when he tried to parallel park his SUV in front of the bar in Chevy Chase.

Espino was standing outside when he was hit and pinned against the building, according to investigators.

Officers said McCargo drove off and was later found hiding behind some bushes off Yellowstone Parkway.

Meanwhile, Espino’s family said the victim had undergone several surgeries and lost one of his legs after the crash.

Espino had been in Lexington for training with the Guam Army National Guard.
