Update: Fire Guts Lexington Business
A large fire destroyed a Lexington store late Thursday night.
The fire broke out at the Family Dollar store at 481 W. New Circle Road at around 11:30 p.m.
The business is located in a strip mall.
When firefighters arrived, they said there was heavy smoke coming from the Family Dollar store.
A few minutes later, flames were shooting from the roof.
That’s when more units were called in to keep that fire from spreading.
Around 35 units responded to the fire.
No firefighters were injured in the fire but one ladder did sustain damage and had to be taken out of service.
Firefighters aren’t sure what caused the fire but think it may have started at a business nearby.
