Update: Fallen Tree Blamed On Power Outage In Lexington

On a hot summer day the last thing you’d want to be without is air conditioning, but that’s exactly what happened to an estimated 9,000 Kentucky Utilities customers Sunday afternoon in Lexington.

The outage was from American Avenue to Higbee Mill Road, which covered a large portion of the Harrodsburg Road area.

According to KU, a big tree fell in a wooded area behind the Picadome fire department building on Harrodsburg Road and took out transmission and distribution lines.

According to KU’s online outage map, all of the power was restored by early evening.

To view the KU outage map, visit www.lge-ku.com.  In the middle of the home page, there is an outage map link.  Click on the link and look for a ‘Summary’ tab in the upper left corner.  Click on the county-by-county link and go to the affected county for the latest outage numbers and locations.
