Update: Evacuation Shelter Closed In McCreary County
McCreary County has closed the evacuation shelter it set up for families impacted by toxic smoke and fumes caused by a tire fire.
That fire broke out at King Tire Recycling, Incorporated in Stearns Wednesday, burning around 40,000 tires.
According to the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross, 26 people were at the shelter to escape the smoke and fumes.
The Red Cross said the county judge executive decided to have the families placed at the Parkland Motel.
