UPDATE: Estill water distribution center to reopen Friday
ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Estill County is updating the community after the fourth day of its critical water shortage and boil water advisory. It says about 1,000 homes are still without water and/ or water pressure.
The water distribution center will reopen again Friday morning. Residents can pick up water from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Estill County Fair Barn. People who live in Irvine and Ravenna can also receive water.
The county is warning the community that the single-digit temperatures could become a setback for the shortage. As for people who need to run water to prevent their pipes from freezing, officials say that one tap, at a trickle no larger than a pencil lead, is usually sufficient.
Residents who have water are asked to continue to conserve as much as possible. And all water for consumption needs to be boiled for at least three minutes.
