UPDATE: Estill County water shortage lifted; boil advisory remains

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The water shortage advisory in Estill County has been lifted. But emergency management says the boil water notice is still in effect.

Officials say water samples were taken Wednesday morning and sent for testing. And it says water was available for pickup into the evening at the American Legion for customers in Millers Creek, Pryse, Beatyville Road, Cobhill, Watsons Ridge, and Patsey.

The county has been struggling with its water supply over the past few weeks. Some customers didn’t have water for several days at a time. The county set up water distribution centers for families to pick up bottled water.

Emergency management says the community will be notified as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted. But until then, customers should boil their water for at least three minutes before drinking or cooking with it.
