Update: Escaped Inmate Recaptured In Lexington

Freedom was fleeting Monday for an escaped inmate in Lexington.

The Fayette County Detention Center said Frederick Miller, 41, of Lexington, didn’t return to jail as scheduled at 2:00 p.m. from a court-ordered Funeral Pass.

Lexington Police said they recaptured Miller at 5:47 p.m. in the 1100 block of Manchester Street.

Police said Miller tried to run from police but was recaptured without incident.

The jail said Miller was originally in for Robbery 1st – 2 counts, Theft by Unlawful Taking – Misdemeanor and being a Persistent Felon.

Investigators said he’s accused of robbing the Chase Bank on Leestown Road on two separate occasions. 

Police said the first robbery was in September 2011 and the second in June of this year.

Following Monday’s failure to return, Police said Miller was additionally charged with Escape 2nd Degree and Fleeing the Scene.

He was returned to the Fayette County Detention Center.
