KSP: Tip from railroad worker led troopers to escaped inmates
DRY RIDGE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State police say two escaped inmates from Blackburn Correctional Facility were captured after they were spotted by a railroad worker. Investigators say 24-year-old Jordan Green and 23-year-old Waltez Franklin were found in Harrison County. Troopers say the railroad employee called from the Corinth area after seeing the men walking on the train tracks.
According to the state, the men walked away from Blackburn Monday evening. It says Green was serving a 28-year sentence for convictions out of Boone County, which included robbery and burglary. He would have been eligible for parole in October 2017, according to the state.
Investigators say Franklin was serving a 20-year sentence for convictions out of Warren County for robbery and assault. He would have been eligible for parole in April 2018, according to the investigators.
KSP received a call from a railroad employee in the Corinth area stating that he had possibly seen the two escapees on the railroad tracks. Troopers from the Dry Ridge and Frankfort Posts were dispatched to the area. Sheriff’s units from Grant, Scott, Harrison and Owen Counties also responded to the area to assist in the search.
