Update: Donations Needed For Temporary Knox-Whitley County Animal Shelter
A temporary Knox-Whitley County Animal Shelter is being set-up following a fire on Friday that destroyed the existing facility.
Twenty-one dogs survived the fire, one dog and 34 cats perished. One dog is unaccounted for and presumed dead, according to shelter officials.
About a dozen dogs were taken in by the Lexington Humane Society. Those dogs are not yet ready for adoption, according to LHS officials.
In the meantime, Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter officials are asking for immediate donations of the following:
- Metal food and water bowls
- Blankets
- Towels
- Water
- Big water buckets
- Cat pans to be used for litter boxes
- Litter scoops
- Cat containment crates
- Garbage cans
- Large garbage bags
- Dog and Cat food
