UPDATE: KSP releases identity of man killed in Laurel collision
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – State police say a Nicholasville man was killed in a three-vehicle collision on I-75. It says it happened Sunday evening near the 46 mile marker in Laurel County.
Investigators say the victim is 46-year-old Zhurko Pavel. Troopers say the collision started when a Saturn hit the back of the Volvo commercial vehicle that Pavel was driving. State police say Pavel pulled over to check on his vehicle and the people in the Saturn. While he was standing on the road, troopers say a Volkswagon headed south hit the Saturn, then Pavel.
State police say he was taken to the St. Joseph’s Hospital in London where he was pronounced dead by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators say the driver of the Saturn was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. Troopers say a female passenger was treated at the hospital and released.
