UPDATE: Crossing guard hit in Pulaski Co. dies

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say the crossing guard at Southwestern High School in Pulaski Co. who was hit by a truck on Wednesday has died.

Troopers say it happened around 3:05 p.m.  69-year-old Doyle W. Patterson, of Somerset, was standing on an access road when he was hit by a Chevrolet pickup, as he was preparing to direct traffic when school was dismissed.

Patterson was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he later died from his injuries, according to officers.

No drug or alcohol use was suspected in the accident.
