UPDATE: Crash victim was well-known Mt. Sterling businessman
MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ)- One of the victims of a deadly crash on I-64 in Montgomery County was a well-known businessman in Mount Sterling.
Deputies say 77-year old Frank Fortune and his daughter, 57-year old Cheri Lynn Shipowick, died Sunday afternoon at the accident scene. According to the sheriff, the two were in a truck that crashed into the back of a semi. Deputies say the semi was slowing down at the time of the collision.
Fortune was a U.S. Army veteran and president and CEO of Mountain Town Machining, Inc. He helped start the company nearly four decades ago. He was also the president of Fortune Cemetery Association.
Visitation for Fortune and Shipoweck will be this Wednesday from 4pm-8pm at Taul Funeral Home in Mount Sterling. The funerals will be Thursday at 11am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery.
