UPDATE: Clyde Sexton found guilty of 3rd degree sexual abuse
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Jurors in Lexington say Clyde Sexton is guilty of third-degree sexual abuse, involving the sexual assault of a coworker who’d passed out at a Lexington strip club in 2013. The verdict was announced late Wednesday night. The coroner says that coworker, Melissa Kline-Smiley, died a few days later.
The jury’s decision came one day after the medical examiner testified Kline-Smiley died of an overdose of heroin and hydrocodone. The medical examiner says there were no visible signs of violence to her body.
Jurors could have found Sexton guilty of first-degree sexual abuse, but opted for third, which is a misdemeanor. The jury is recommending a sentence of 90 days in jail and a $250 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for July 17.
