UPDATE: Arson suspect set to appear in court
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Nicholasville man is accused of setting two fires at a Lexington business.
According to court documents, 30-year-old Gregory Casey set a fire at H&H Racing on Brentwood Court back on December 26, 2018.
Investigators say they determined Casey forced open the front door, took items from the business, and intentionally started the fire in an attempt to destroy the building.
Court documents say police got surveillance video from a nearby business that showed a man walking around outside, talking on a cell phone before the fire was set.
H&H Racing moved from the building shortly before the second fire was set on February 7, 2019.
Police say surveillance video showed a black Chevy Equinox in the parking lot four hours before that fire was set.
Court documents say police were able to use that surveillance video to trace the SUV back to Casey.
Police also traced cell phone calls made during the first fire back to Casey, according to court documents.
Casey is charged with arson and burglary.
He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
