UPDATE: Shooting victim identified, suspect’s charges upgraded to murder

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The shooting victim in the Race Street shooting over the weekend has been identified.
The Fayette County coroner has identified the victim as 33-year-old Adrian Sturgis. Sturgis died Thursday morning.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police say the victim in the Race Street shooting that happened on Sunday, March 24, has died.
Police have charged the man accused of the shooting, Mykel Smith, with murder.
Smith was arrested March 25th.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was arrested Monday and charged in connection to a weekend shooting on Race Street in Lexington, according to police.
Investigators say 20-year old Mykel D. Smith is accused of shooting a 33-year old man in the front yard of a home shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say the two men are acquaintances.
The victim, whose name wasn’t released, remains in the hospital. Police initially called the man’s wounds potentially life-threatening.
Investigators have not released any circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Smith was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center.
