UPDATE: Another bomb threat at a Walmart in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – For the second time today and the fourth time in the last three days, a Walmart in Lexington received a phoned-in bomb threat, according to Lexington Police. Investigators say shortly after 9:00 p.m., a man, calling from a blocked number, called the Walmart on Nicholasville Road and Man O War Boulevard and said there was a bomb planted in the store that would go off in 20-minutes.

Police say Walmart immediately evacuated the store and called authorities. A bomb sniffing dog was called in, the building was searched, but nothing was found, according to police. The store was closed for one-hour.

Earlier today, the Walmart at Richmond Road and Man O War received a phoned-in threat from a man calling from a blocked number, according to police.

As a precaution, the store was evacuated and a bomb sniffing dog went through the building. Nothing was found. Police call Tuesday’s incidents “pranks,” along with two other phoned-in bomb threats last Sunday at the Walmart on New Circle Road at Russell Cave Road and at the Walmart in the Tates Creek South shopping center on Saron Drive.

Investigators say the pranks are costing businesses money because they have to temporarily close and it’s costing taxpayers money with the police and fire response and tying up valuable resources from both departments.

Police say they’re trying to determine if the same person is making all the threats.
