Update: 2 victims identified after shooting outside Lexington library

UPDATE: (8/03) According to the Fayette County Corner’s Office, the two victims are identified as 52-year-old Edward Parker of Lexington and 71-year-old Ashim Heanacho, also of Lexington.

Police say the pair were shot and killed outside the Lexington Public Library branch on Russell Cave Road.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A woman has been arrested in connection with a double homicide that occurred early Saturday morning on Russell Cave Road.

According to Lexington Police, 69-year-old Deborah Weiss was taken into custody at the scene and charged with two counts of murder. She is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The investigation began just after 3:20 a.m. on August 2, 2025, when officers were called to the 1700 block of Russell Cave Road for a reported shooting. When they got there, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both died at the scene.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lexington Police or submit an anonymous tip through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.
