University of Kentucky breaks ground on new agriculture building
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky broke ground on a new agriculture research building on Friday, June 14.
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment was joined by members of Kentucky’s General Assembly, UK Board of Trustees, and the school’s administration to celebrate the start of construction on the building.
It will be a $285 million project to support more research for the college’s endeavors.
The Agricultural Research Building is set to be completed in November 2026. Once completed the 263,000-square-foot building will be the college’s central research space.
By focusing on research, the space will align with the college’s teaching and missions which help serve the whole Commonwealth.
