United in Acceptance – Lexington United Interfaith Encounters

J.R. Zerkowski, founder of the Lexington United Interfaith Encounters series, returns to Good Day Kentucky to talk with Eric Burke about the next installment in the series, coming up on May 8th.

The United Interfaith Encounter series welcomes people of all walks of life, regardless of theological ideology, race, creed, or sexual orientation, along with representatives of the civic community to celebrate diversity and the common dignity that belongs to everyone.  Musical artists from throughout the Commonwealth/Bluegrass also participate.

On Monday, students from multiple faiths will speak at an encounter called, “United in Acceptance: “Eradicating Racism, Bullying, and Bigotry.” The discussion will feature remarks from Zachariah Wirtschafter Sippy and Leighanne Guettler-James, from Henry Clay High School, as well as Sahar Mohammadsadeh, from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.  Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv., of the Catholic Diocese of Lexington will deliver the response to the students’ messages.

A dessert fellowship will follow the Encounter hosted by LGBT Ministry- Together on the Bridge.

United in Acceptance will happen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, at Historic St. Paul Church, located at 425 W. Short Street in Lexington.
