Uninsured Can Now Find Affordable Health Coverage Online
Open enrollment began Tuesday morning through Kentucky’s website, Kynect.
By early Tuesday afternoon, more than 57,000 people had already visited the website.
Many people were not able to apply for coverage Tuesday morning due to the high volume of visitors to Kynect along with some technical difficulties.
The state says the issues were resolved early Tuesday afternoon, allowing people to once again apply for coverage.
Kynect also allows people to search for plans, compare them, and apply for financial assistance.
Kynect is online at: www.kynect.ky.gov
For assistance, call 1-855-459-6328
Open enrollment will continue through March 31, 2014, with benefits starting as early as January 1, 2014.
Due to the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, plans cannot deny coverage due to a pre-existing health condition.
All plans will also cover preventative care, pregnancy and infant care, mental health care, and substance abuse treatment.
Children will be allowed to stay on their parents’ health insurance until they turn 26 and no lifetime limits will be imposed.
