Roads treated, driving could be difficult for some
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Snow began to cover roads in Lexington at around 4 a.m. Officials say it could make the commute to and from work difficult for some.
State and City crews got an early start Wednesday morning as they reported to work at around 4 a.m. to patrol and treat the roads as needed.
The head of Lexington’s Streets and Roads says both City and contracted snow plow drivers were salting roads throughout Tuesday. Temperatures were too cold to use a brine treatment, According to officials.
State crews spent much of their time focusing on bridges, over passes and ramps, which are potentially dangerous spots for drivers when the snow hits. ABC 36 was told crews will execute the city’s snow plan of plowing the most heavily used roads first.
The city’s salt supply is still full due to the lack of snow so far this season.
Officials say, if at all possible drivers should avoid traveling in bad weather.
