Proposed names for new schools in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Proposed names for two new elementary schools in Lexington have been revealed.
Pending the approval of the school board, the new school of Georgetown Road could be called Coventry Oak Elementary. The name combines the names of the Coventry and Oakwood neighborhoods.
The school on Passage Mound Way could be named Garrett Morgan Elementary; after the son of former slaves who became a respected inventor, inventing the traffic light, among other things.
Committees for each school picked the names. The school board will vote December 14.
