Helicopter crash kills 2 Army pilots
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Army’s 101st Airborne Division says crew members were flying in an Apache helicopter when it went down around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the military, the flight was a routine training mission and two pilots were killed as a result of that crash.
Investigators are at the scene where the crash happened near Fort Cambell, about 60 miles northwest of Nashville.
The helicopter was found in a river bottom and was on fire when first responders arrived, according to the Montgomery Emergency Management Agency Director.
The Army says the cause of the crash is still under investigation and the identities of the two pilots are being withheld until their families are notified.
