LPD: Robberies possibly related

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police are trying to determine if the same two men are behind three robberies in Lexington.

Officers responded to a robbery happened just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Marathon on Newtown Pike.

The clerk tells police one man walked into the store with a bandana over his face and carrying a silver handgun.

Police say another man stood outside and acted as a lookout. After getting cash, the suspect left the store and the two ran off.
Police believe they got into a vehicle nearby because K9 lost the track in a parking lot in the back of the store.

Then, just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to the Thornton’s on South Broadway.

Police say a man with his face covered and carrying a silver handgun came in and demanded cash.

They say there was another suspect involved but don’t know if he was inside or outside the store during the robbery.

As the suspects ran off, police say they dropped some cash in the parking lot.

Police are also trying to determine if these were the same suspects involved in a robbery last month a Z Market One on Versailles Road.

In that case, one suspect robbed the store while another acted as a lookout.

Police plan to go over surveillance video Wednesday morning from the robberies.
