Black Friday: People visit mall for more than shopping

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( WTVQ) – Shoppers told ABC 36 that when Fayette Mall first opened their doors at 6 p.m on Thanksgiving Day, the crowds were light.

Later that evening, Shoppers say traffic picked up and people were visiting the mall for more than just shopping. Visitors told ABC 36 that great weather encouraged them to get out and stop by the mall.

Some say they simply wanted to exercise and walk around after their Thanksgiving meal. For others it was a great opportunity for family bonding.

Visitors also say they felt safe walking in and out of the mall because of the amount of security and lighting in the parking lot.

Nearly 60% of Americans are expected to shop between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. Fayette Mall expects to see 150,000 people or more visit by Friday night.
