UK Students/Faculty get free steak dinner if Cats win national title
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – If the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team wins the 2017 NCAA championship, Lexington-based Bluegrass Hospitality Group (BHG), owner of Malone’s Steakhouse, will provide UK students and faculty a steak dinner.
The announcement by BHG is in response to Cincinnati-area restaurateur Jeff Ruby’s offer to provide free steaks for Northern Kentucky University undergraduates if their team defeats UK in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
Bruce Drake, co-founder of BHG stated, “After hearing the offer to support their local team, it occurred to us that Lexington’s hometown steakhouse should step up to the plate with a steak for every UK student and faculty member, if the Cats win the title.”
BHG has been a longtime supporter of the University of Kentucky athletics program. In fact, Malone’s menu offers UK “Celebrity Cuts” – including The Anthony Davis, The Calipari, The Randall Cobb, The Stoops Steak, and the Tim & Heather Couch.
