UK student missing in the Middle East
TEL AVIV, Israel (WTVQ) – A UK student has gone missing while swimming in the Middle East.
A press release from UK says that 19 year-old TeNiya Jones, a sophomore from Ft. Myers Florida, was swimming in the Mediterranean sea of Tel Aviv, Israel while studying abroad.
One of the students swimming with her says she was caught in a strong current and pulled out to sea.
The students called Israeli officials who have initiated a major search and rescue effort.
“We are in continual contact with Teniya’s family, officials in Israel, officials from the State Department and our Congressional delegation, to provide all the support we can for the family, students and others involved. We will do everything possible to provide whatever support is needed,” said UK President Eli Capilouto in a statement.
