UK student accused of meeting young girl for sex

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A University of Kentucky student was arrested overnight Monday after meeting a 14-year old girl to have sex, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say 22-year old Patrick W. Jones, Junior, met the girl through social media.

Deputies say they found the two in a car in a parking lot near the intersection of Tamworth Lane and Burlington Lane just after midnight.

Investigators say Jones knew the girl was underage.

He was charged with Sodomy 3rd Degree, Engaging in an Unlawful Transaction with a Minor and Engaging in the Prohibited Use of an Electronic Communications System to Procure a Minor or Peace Officer for Sexual Offenses, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jones was lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center.
