UK quarterback balancing business and pleasure in Orlando
ORLANDO, FL (WTVQ) – A year ago, Kentucky Quarterback Terry Wilson was playing at Garden City Community College in Kansas. Now, he’s preparing to lead the Wildcats against Penn State in the VRBO Citrus Bowl in Orlando on New Year’s Day.
At 9-and-3, the sophomore from Oklahoma led Kentucky to its best regular-season record since 1977, which included a win at Florida, ending a 31-year losing streak to the Gators. And, he did it in his first road start as a Wildcat.
Wilson says he’s having fun with the team at all the off-the-field bowl activities, but he knows when it’s time to get down to business on the practice field.
“When we get on the field we have to put the vacation-thing in the back of our minds. We have to come out here and go to work. After we take care of what we need to take care of, then we can go have fun,” Wilson said.
Wilson added that the top priority is beating Penn State in the VRBO Citrus Bowl and securing a 10-win season for the Wildcats.
“Once we touch the practice field we have to make sure we’re sharp and on-point because Coach Stoops has given us a lot of time to enjoy ourselves so, we have to be smart and when we get on this field we have to take care of business because the game’s coming fast,” said Wilson.
