UK parts way with coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky has cut ties with assistant cross country and track coach Hakon DeVries as an investigation into his conduct continues.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, UK confirmed his contract has ended but declined to release further details while the case remains under review. Documents obtained by the paper show the university previously substantiated complaints from two athletes who accused DeVries of making inappropriate comments about their bodies.

DeVries joined UK in 2012 and helped develop multiple championship runners. He has not commented on his departure.

University officials say the investigation is still ongoing.
